For those who are unfamiliar with the artists’ names, you probably know their work: clay animation innovator Daniels; Oscar winning animator Gratz, who uses bits of clay as if they were oil paints; legendary caricaturist Hirschfeld; Kricfalusi, best known for the cult hit “Ren and Stimpy”; computer graphics pioneer Malmberg; Peter Max, who almost single-handedly gave the ’60s its vision; and Sedelmaier, whose darkly comic animation has been seen everywhere from The Cartoon Network, to Saturday Night Live, to the Jansen adventures on The Colbert Report.
This lithograph was commissioned in 1993 when NBC hired the seven artists to create animated versions of the NBC logo in their own, unique styles. The poster was given out to stations and key execs in the company to commemorate the event. These lithographs were never sold to the public, and never meant for public distribution.
