Jean Fernand was born in Orly in 1948. His parents, who were Parisians, managed an industrial laundry. When he left the primary school, Fernand passed his launderer certificate; he was therefore destined to take up the family business.
But since his early childhood, he was passionately fond of painting and drawing. It is interesting to record that his grand-father on the father’s side was a painter and varnished Napoleon’s tomb.
He started painting when he was sixteen and did not dedicate himself very much to his profession. He studied under various painters : Bergeron, Gozlan, and met Mathieu. Since the age of 25, he has devoted himself exclusively to painting.
Progressively, his style took form. In 1970, Fernand found his definitive style. He has opened his Workshop in Orly (in the old city).
Fernand paints swiftly; his hand is precise, sure of every movement. But let there be no misunderstanding, this absolute skill results from patient researches. It took me 25 years to paint this painting in some hours, he said one day.
