Dimitry Polak Biography:
In a classical blend between impressionism and naive art Dimitri Polak uses Mediterranean light to express color with exquisite landscape compositions, elegantly painted in a unique manner that has survived through his family for generations.
Descending from a lineage of artists, Polak learned painting and drawing in the Ukraine from his father, a famous artist in Kiev at the turn of the last century. The most noted influence in his work is that of the impressionist Claude. After serving in the Red Army during World War II, he completed his formal studies at the ‘Kiev Institute of Arts’. It was not until 1991 that he immigrated to Israel where he currently resides and works.
Polak’s works have been exhibited in numerous solo and group exhibitions throughout the countries of the former Soviet Union as well as Europe, Israel and the USA.
